Community Skills Development – Update

The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services through the Department of Community runs Provincial Skills Training Centres in eight (8) Provinces of Zambia except for Muchinga and Lusaka. The Department also offers Community Development studies under its two colleges, Monze and Kitwe Community Development Staff Training Colleges.

In 2018, the Department of Community Development enrolled 548 students who undertook various skills training ranging from Home Management, Power Electrical, Carpentry and Joinery, Bricklaying and Plastering, Tailoring and General Agriculture. The following are some of the Provincial Community Development Skills Training centres that managed to enroll students; Monze, Munyumbwe and Ngwenya in Southern Province, Namushake in Western Province, Solwezi in North-western Province, Katete in Eastern Province, Kabwe in Central Province, Masaiti in Copperbelt, and Mungwi in Northern Province.

Furthermore, the Department of Community Development successfully conducted graduation ceremonies at Kitwe Community Development Staff College, Mungwi, Monze and Munyumbwe Skills Training Centres.One of the students at Monze Skills greeting the Director of Community Development during the certificate presentation by the guest of Honour

At Kitwe Community Development Staff College 114 students graduated with Diploma certificates in Community Development studies, whereas at Mungwi, Monze and Munyumbwe Skills Training Centres 327 graduated in various Skills.
